Bishop Julio C.
Holguin
In the city of San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic
on the 15th of December, 1948 Julio Cesar Holguin was born. He is the son of
Mrs. Consuelo Khoury and Julio Holguin (both deceased).
To family and friends he was known lovingly, in childhood, as "Adolfo". He began his education in the town where he was born, San Francisco de Macoris. Later, he moved to Santo Domingo to study for a career in sociology. Later, he moved to Mexico and entered the Episcopal Seminary of San Andres where he studied theology.
He was ordained a deacon on the 11th of July, 1976 and one year later , July 3, 1977 he was ordained into the priesthood. On the 16th of August, 1991 he was consecrated the third Bishop of the Episcopal church of the Dominican Republic.
He married Milagros Hernandez on the 17th of April, 1977. They now have three children: Sahidy, Gabriel and Julio.
In the year 1976 he published "La Educacion Cristiana en la IX Provincia" (The Christian Education in the IXth Province). He as been vicar and rector of the churches and schools in San Marcos, Santa Cruz and San Andres.
He has been involved as much at the local level as the international level with various working committees, especially in the areas of with Christian education and theological education for Latin America and the Caribbean.
His free time is used to share with his family. He likes to read, listen to music and play the guitar.
