Basic Needs ListThe following is a list of simple items that Hopital Ste. Croix uses every day for patient care. They are items available at any drug outlet and inexpensive. They are ALL essential in providing basic care to all Haitian patients regardless of their financial background.

Bandage scissors, 6-8 inches long
Bar soap, any brand
Exam Gloves, latex - Medium and Large
Gauze, rolled sterile, 3-4 inch wide
Liquid Soap for skin
Q-tips, double or single

Health Kits
Items personal hygiene like - shampoo, bar soap, combs, brushes, toothpaste and tooth brushes, wash towels
Infant Kits
Baby shampoo, oil, baby powder, small receiving blankets, comes, brushes, diapers and pins, shirts etc.
Bars of soap
Wrapped on washcloths.
Hand towels
Many patients arrive with nothing.
Bedding
Twin sheets, flat, white. New or Used.
School Kits
Pens, pencils, notebooks, paper, ruler, crayons, colored paper, coloring books etc. Avoid those with large amounts of English text.
Patient gowns
Open in back with ties, short sleeves, cool, light weight material, washable and NOT too pretty. Adult size (but remember, that most Haitians are smaller than we are).

Hopital Ste. Croix is charged shipping charges of $1.25 per pound. If you would like to prepay these charges please send a check to the regular mailing address (listed above) and note on the check: "for the Ste. Croix account".
Lynx Air has agreed to carry up to 100 pound boxes or items.
They also will offer "next flight" service for $2.50 per pound. That normally means the item will be in Haiti within two to four days. Normal service usually requires seven to ten days to arrive in Haiti.prepared by:
